SILVALOY A54N is a silver brazing alloy suitable for furnace brazing due to its low zinc content. Its broader melting range (250F) is helpful where clearances are not uniform. During melting, SILVALOY A54N passes from the solid state to a mushy or plastic state and progressively to a liquid. If heated slowly through this plastic state (1325-1575F) the liquid portion may flow from the solid portion. This causes a separation of the alloy into a low temperature melting (fluid) portion and a high temperature melting (solid) portion. This phenomenon is called liquation. The high temperature melting portion will melt only above the normal brazing temperature of SILVALOY A54N. For this reason, SILVALOY A54N should be heated rapidly through the melting range. Typical applications are the joining of ferrous, nonferrous and dissimilar metals and alloys. |

Good for elevated application to 700°F. Low zinc content reduces zinc deposit within furnace during brazing operation. |
||
Excellent for furnace and vacuum brazing because of no Zn or Cd additions. Good corrosion resistance to marine environment. |

SILVALOY 50 is one of the lower melting brazing alloys composed of silver, copper, zinc and cadmium. It has wide acceptance by industrial users, as well as being included in Federal and Military specifications on brazing filler metals or alloys. It has a narrow melting range which is not apparent in most brazing operations, making it flow freely through a capillary. Typical applications are the joining of ferrous, nonferrous and dissimilar metals and alloys with close joint clearances. It is suitable for use on most metals except aluminum and magnesium. It is mainly used for joining steel, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys, nickel, nickel alloys or combinations of these metals. Similar to Silvaloy 45 properties with narrower melt range, used on same base metals. |

SILVALOY 35 is free-flowing and suited for general purpose work. Its broader melting range is helpful where clearances are not uniform. During melting, SILVALOY 35 passes from the solid state to a mushy or plastic state and progressively to a liquid. If heated slowly through this plastic state (1125-1295F), the liquid portion may flow from the solid portion. This causes a separation of the alloy into a low-temperature melting (fluid) portion and a high-temperature melting (solid) portion. This phenomenon is called liquation. The high-temperature melting portion will melt only above the normal brazing temperature of SILVALOY 35. For this reason, SILVALOY 35 should be heated rapidly through the melting range. Typical applications are the joining of ferrous, non-ferrous, and dissimilar metals and alloys with close joint clearances. SILVALOY 35 is an alloy with a melting range suitable for brazing steel, stainless steel, copper, copper alloys, nickel, nickel alloys or combinations of these metals. |

SILVALOY A30 does not contain cadmium and is often used as an alternate to cadmium containing alloys when the brazed assembly comes in contact with food or dairy products. Its slightly higher melt temperature provides improved mechanical strengths when exposed to elevated temperatures. Typical applications are the joining of ferrous, nonferrous and dissimilar metals and alloys with close joint clearances. It is used extensively in joining of copper, brass, nickel, silvers, and ferrous alloys. Good for refrigeration assemblies where higher temperatures can be employed. |

Low temperature melting alloy for joining carbides and ferrous alloys. |

Brazing of specialty steels and alloy used in high temperature service. |

SILVALOY A50N is a cadmium free silver brazing alloy. Addition of nickel to the silver-copper zinc alloy imparts corrosion properties which retards joint or interface corrosion of the brazed assembly. SILVALOY A50N is a suitable replacement to the cadmium containing BAg-3 alloy SILVALOY 50N. Its low liquidus of 1305F reduces surface oxidation and sensitization to stainless steels. Typical applications are the joining of 300 series stainless steels in the food, medical, and dental fields. The nickel element in SILVALOY A50N also improves the bond strength when joining of tungsten carbide cutting tips. Used with 300 series stainless in Food, Medical, Dental fields. Good replacement of Silvaloy 50N in carbide brazing. |
